VISION
The vision of the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering is to be recognised as a trendsetter in its undergraduate programmes through a focus on core competencies, multi-disciplinary collaborations, and quality in education with a research focus catering to the needs of the public and staying in tune with the advancing technological revolution and challenging cultural changes.
MISSION
The mission of the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering is to produce highly qualified, well-formed, and motivated graduates possessing fundamental knowledge of engineering practice and research in Electronics & Communication Engineering who can provide leadership and service to our nation and world.
About The Department
The department was established during the inception of the institute in 2011 as the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE). Since commencement, the primary objective of the department has been to impart quality education, training, and research at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels in various areas of electronics and communication engineering, with a broad emphasis on design aspects of electronic systems.
In 2012, the department started M. Tech. programmes with specialisations in Communication Engineering and VLSI.
In 2013, the department introduced a diploma programme in ECE.
The major areas of faculty expertise in the department include Communication Systems, Computer Networks, Control Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Image Processing & Instrumentation, RF and Microwaves, Material Science Engineering, VLSI Systems, and Embedded Systems.
Electronics and Communication Engineering
Electronics is the science of how to control electric energy, an energy in which electrons have a fundamental role. Electronics deals with electrical circuits that involve active electrical components such as vacuum tubes, transistors, diodes, integrated circuits, and associated passive electrical components and interconnection technologies. Commonly, electronic devices contain circuitry consisting primarily or exclusively of active semiconductors supplemented with passive elements; such a circuit is described as an electronic circuit.
Communication occurs when the exchange of information between two entities includes the use of technology. Communication technology uses channels to transmit information (as electrical signals), either over a physical medium (such as signal cables) or in the form of electromagnetic waves. The word is often used in its plural form, telecommunications, because it involves many different technologies.
