Ombudsman

Introduction

The Ombudsman is an independent authority appointed to ensure that the University functions with transparency, fairness, and accountability. The office provides a neutral platform for students, faculty, and staff to raise concerns or complaints regarding academic or administrative matters without fear of bias, retaliation, or prejudice.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Examine complaints related to unfair practices, academic disputes, administrative delays, harassment, discrimination, or misuse of authority.
  • Facilitate fair and timely resolution through impartial review and mediation.
  • Ensure the University’s policies and regulations are followed consistently.
  • Recommend corrective measures to avoid recurrence of similar issues.
  • Promote a culture of trust, respect, and ethical conduct on campus.

Who Can Approach the Ombudsman

  • Students
  • Faculty members
  • Administrative and non-teaching staff
  • Parents or guardians (in cases involving student welfare)

When to Approach

You may approach the Ombudsman when:

  • A complaint has been submitted to the concerned department/committee, but no satisfactory action has been taken.
  • There is clear evidence of bias, negligence, harassment, or misconduct.
  • A matter requires neutral intervention to resolve.

Confidentiality

All complaints and proceedings handled by the Ombudsman are treated with complete confidentiality. The identity of the complainant is protected, and no adverse action can be taken against anyone for reporting a genuine concern.
